The Foodist: Immunity Boosting Hot Toddy

The Foodist: Immunity boosting hot toddy is a delicious way to chase away the chills and get a nice boost of flavor from a hot drink. This twist on a classic toddy is unique because Jim Scienced The Hell out of it. It is a base of cardamon and ginger tea, with splashes of crystalized honey, echinacea tincture, ionic zinc, fresh lemon, sugar and of course, brandy.

Crystalizing honey, echinacea and zinc tinctures, lemon ginger echinacea tea, and lemons.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Liter Hot Water for Tea

  • 1 bag Constant Comment Tea (I use Decaf)

  • Alternative for tea is Trader Joes Ginger, Echinacea, and Lemon drink)

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 1 Tbsp honey (I use honey and comb)

  • 1 Tbsp Lemon (Lemon juice is fine)

  • 1 tsp echinacea tincture (you can use dried flowers)

  • 1 tsp ionic zinc (I have made this with a battery , some acid, and few sterilized nickels)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon or a cinnamon stick (but the stick seems wasteful)

  • 1 shot brandy

DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat water in a kettle. Fill cups with warm water and set aside or heat in a 200F oven for a few minutes.

  2. Brew the tea per directions. Or heat the Trader Joes drink in the microwave for a 1:30.

  3. Remove water from cups or take out of oven.

  4. To the cups, add honey, sugar, lemon, echinacea, and zinc, and cinnamon

  5. Pour in shot of brandy, stir.

  6. Top off with hot water and serve nice and sweet and hot.

The echinacea and zinc are great ways to fight off colds (chills and viruses) and it really does work well.
